Oil on canvas of the Flemish painter Daniel Seghers, or Zeghers, born and died in Antwerp (1590-1661). He was a pupil of Jan Brugel and a friend of Rubens. He worked for princes and kings, and painted lilies and roses with an extraordinary grace. Having converted to Catholicism, he was known as "Jesuit of Antwerp" because he became the lay brother of the order of the Jesuits. His work is found in the most important European museums. Fu allievo di Jan Brughel e amico di Rubens, lavorô per principi e re, dipinse gigli e rose di una gracia straordinaria. Anticamente era conosciuto corne il «gesuita di Aversa» perché essendosi convertito al Cattolicesirno divenne fratello laico dell'ordine dei Gesuiti.
